About The Position

Fidelity is seeking a Principal Full Stack Engineer to lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance applications across the technology stack. The role calls for hands-on engineering expertise in modern web technologies and AWS cloud architecture, along with leadership in technical excellence. The engineer will architect solutions, mentor team members, and promote software development best practices.

The position is part of the Fidelity Insurance Group (FIG) Technology team, a recently established group that provides solutions and support for FIG business functions. The team works with internal FIG stakeholders and organizations across Fidelity, particularly the Fidelity Insurance Agency (FIA), to deliver modern, scalable solutions.

Fidelity is transitioning toward a full-time onsite working model through a phased regional and role-based rollout. Current onsite requirements vary by role and location and may evolve. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles. The posting does not specify the work arrangement for this position.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• More than 8 years of experience in full stack development.
• At least 3 years of experience in a senior or principal role.
• Strong proficiency with front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue, and back-end technologies such as Node.js, Java, or Python.
• Expertise in AWS services including EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, API Gateway, and CloudFormation.
• Experience with relational database technologies such as Postgres or Oracle.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture and RESTful APIs.
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of mock frameworks and service virtualization.
• Experience designing, implementing, or maintaining systems supporting Term Life Insurance operations, such as policy administration, underwriting, and claims processing.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of end-to-end solutions across front-end, back-end, and cloud infrastructure.
• Architect and optimize AWS-based cloud environments for scalability, security, and cost efficiency.
• Develop high-quality, maintainable code using modern frameworks and languages.
• Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and other engineers to deliver robust, user-friendly applications.
• Mentor and guide engineering teams, promoting best practices in coding, testing, and architecture.
• Ensure compliance with security standards and implement monitoring and observability solutions.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to architecture and processes.
• Engage at the team and group levels, and contribute beyond primary tasking.
