About The Position

Toast is seeking a Principal Analyst to own the analytical strategy for assessing and mitigating fraud risk for digital transactions. This senior individual-contributor role is central to generating actionable insights and defining risk strategy across Toast’s Fintech ecosystem. The position reports to the Senior Manager of Fraud Analytics and focuses on digital payments, particularly guest fraud.

Requirements

• 6–8 years of experience in data analytics, payments risk, and fraud.
• Very strong SQL and Python skills, and proficiency with analytical tools.
• Proven ability to analyze large, complex datasets and extract actionable insights.
• Experience owning ambiguous problem spaces and translating them into clear analytical frameworks and measurable outcomes.
• Exceptional communication skills and a track record of influencing cross-functional stakeholders and executive leaders.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
• Strategic thinking, high intellectual curiosity, and a passion for driving impact.

Responsibilities

• Lead the definition and evolution of risk frameworks across digital payments, focusing on guest fraud.
• Design, develop, and own core fraud and risk metrics to inform decisions, performance measurement, and strategy.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and Risk Operations to translate analytical insights into scalable solutions.
• Evaluate, integrate, and manage external data sources to improve risk detection and decision-making.
• Define data requirements and partner with Engineering to build and maintain reliable, production-grade data pipelines.
• Set best practices for measurement and risk modeling as a thought leader in fraud analytics.
