About The Position

Boston Scientific is seeking a Principal Financial Analyst to support our growing Cardiac Rhythm & Diagnostic Services (CRMDx) business. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this individual will be responsible for financial planning, reporting and analysis, along with preparation of financial plans and forecasts based on performance expectations, and gathering and publishing financial information related to historical, current and future performance. Performs market/product and financial analysis utilizing appropriate financial concepts and techniques. Develops projections and recommendations based on scenarios, builds consensus and recommends alternative courses of actions balancing tradeoffs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting with minimum of 5 years relevant and progressive FP&A experience
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills
  • Solves complex and diverse problems, takes a new perspective on existing solutions and exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information using specialized knowledge of various alternatives and their impact on the business
  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment autonomously while adhering to deadlines and having attention to detail
  • Hybrid role based in Arden Hills, MN; Ability to be in the office a minimum of 3 days per week for business partnering and to drive key review meetings
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Explains difficult or sensitive information to facilitate productive discussion; works to build consensus
  • Regularly leads discussions and makes presentations in cross-functional meetings, effectively presenting information to explain recommendations and implications

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed financial forecasts for a broad portfolio of medical device products, including pulse generators, leads, systems and monitors across the Cardiac Rhythm Management (pacemakers and defibrillators, leads, accessories, communicators and programmers) and Diagnostics (implantable and ambulatory electrocardiograph monitoring) franchises incorporating historic, trended and current business information.
  • Analyze de novo / initial and replacement implant volume, average selling prices and market trends, including market size, share and competitive product portfolios. Stay current with competitive intelligence and competitive dynamics.
  • Own market models to support revenue and standard margin planning for key CRMDx therapies.
  • Monitor therapy product sales and standard cost performance versus budget and year-over-year and quarter-over-quarter trends by highlighting drivers of variances using system generated detail and trend reports. Analyze and rectify discrepancies.
  • Prepare and distribute financial reports, packages and presentations by gathering and analyzing information related to current performance. Support monthly and quarterly business reviews and earnings release preparation.
  • Provide financial decision support and perform financial analysis on marketing and product strategies, as directed by management, and recommend alternatives courses of action by utilizing appropriate financial and valuation tools (e.g. EVA, NPV analysis).
  • Develop and maintain business case template for Divisional projects.
  • Evaluate new business opportunities, potential acquisitions, new products, tax planning and spending initiatives by modeling alternative financial scenarios (e.g. revenues, profitability etc). Support due diligence as well as income statement and cash flow modeling.
  • Support new product launches and transition to next generation platforms.
  • Develop and utilize sound financial processes and build consensus for sales and standard margin forecasts for long-term strategic plans, annual operating plans and forecasts submissions.
  • Understand revenue recognition considerations and accounting adjustments to support forecasting and reporting on financial results.
  • Liaison with franchise general management, marketing, supply chain, sales leaders, sales operations, global regions, finance management and investor relations regarding market and sales trends. Establishes and promotes a collaborative work environment.
  • Must be comfortable presenting and working with leaders in formal and informal settings to update and present business cases, market analysis, financial models and scenarios.
