About The Position

The Principal of Finance leads Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) in our Acoustics & Imaging Systems Division ($500M+ revenue). In this role, you will support the Acoustics & Imaging Division as well as the two business areas across two CAS segments. You will perform financial planning and analysis in order to understand current and projected business conditions and to meet reporting requirements. Specific outputs include the review of financial results, the consolidation of financial results for operations, and the timely coordination/consolidation of all required Division reporting. Reports to the Division Director of Finance. Develop the Acoustics & Imaging weekly & monthly business review presentation materials. This is an onsite position located in Herndon, VA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or closely related discipline with a minimum of twelve (12) years’ experience in general financial management, to include general accounting, cost accounting, or financial planning & reporting.
  • Or, Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or closely related discipline with a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in general financial management, to include general accounting, cost accounting, or financial planning & reporting.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
  • 12-16 years’ experience and demonstrated understanding of government contract accounting, including quoting, progress payments, milestone and percent of completion billing.

  • Prior defense and aerospace industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive financial statement forecasts, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flows.
  • Maintain and enhance the processes, tools, and data models needed to produce timely and accurate forecasts, with a strong understanding of underlying drivers.
  • Own major financial deliverables including the Monthly Financial Review (MFR), Annual Operating Plan (AOP), and 3-year Joint Strategic Plan (JSP). This includes detailed chart development and oversight of inputs from the broader organization and FP&A team.
  • Work closely with program finance and accounting teams to develop robust processes, models, and inputs for financial forecasting, including overhead, sales, profit, operating income, and free cash flow projections.
  • Lead the preparation of financial forecasting reports and deliverables.
  • Coordinate responses to ad hoc financial requests and reports, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
  • Manage the tracking of indirect rates.
  • Lead monthly forecast reviews with responsibility for the balance sheet and P&L.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in addressing ad hoc financial analysis needs.
  • Use advanced Excel skills to support a variety of business modeling requirements.
  • Prepare meaningful weekly financial metrics to monitor key performance indicators and enable early action.
  • Analyze data for reasonableness and appropriateness, collaborating with others to improve information sources.
  • Develop tools, templates, and processes to streamline data gathering and report preparation.
  • Ensure the information collected is relevant and at the right level of detail.
  • Drive understanding of financial variances.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify corrective actions, risks, and opportunities resulting from those variances.
  • Prepare impactful presentations and concise analyses.
  • Communicate relevant and actionable information effectively to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Oversee Hyperion-based forecasting systems.
  • Plan and schedule work to meet objectives and deadlines while ensuring compliance with internal, sector, segment, and corporate requirements.
