About The Position

Our priority is to identify, scope, and deliver system and process improvements to reduce operating expense, increase free cash flow, improve customer experience and establish first pass yield process efficiencies. The Finance Operations organization works with every part of Amazon to provide procure-to-pay, revenue-to-receipt, real-estate and facilities, operations accounting and operations excellence services with the highest level of controllership at the lowest cost to the company. We provide the backbone systems and operational processes which completely, accurately, and validly pay Amazon’s suppliers, invoice our customers and report financial results. This role will be a key member of the Finance Operations Business Partnership team supporting our North American Online Retail businesses. Our team is focused on building a better experience for our valued consumer partners. As a business partner, you will work daily alongside leaders of all levels within Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Retail, Retail Finance, Vendors, and other operational groups in a global environment. We advocate for improvements through technology and partner with various teams to define, design, and prioritize those enhancements in the ordering, fulfillment, payment and dispute resolution processes for our vendors. This position requires the candidate to diagnose current Amazon processes and metrics, identify opportunities, work with business partners to identify tools/systems improvement opportunity, and validate the improvement effort. You will be a key partner for some of our largest retail categories to identify opportunities to adapt existing technologies and processes for growth and expansion and address changing regulatory and compliance needs. You will be responsible for identifying the opportunities across the procure to pay and order to cash processes, prioritizing the improvement opportunities and partnering with business and technology leadership to successfully execute global improvements. This role requires the ability to demonstrate ownership, interpret data, and effectively influence to drive meaningful results translating to tangible productivity and efficiency gains across multiple Amazon departments. To succeed, you must have the ability to engage deeply with diverse business partners, earn trust using fact and data, and have a demonstrated ability to advise and influence the decisions of senior business leaders through effective verbal and written communication. This candidate must possess excellent analytical skills, program management experience, and a track record of delivering projects in a complex and ambiguous environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, and Computer Science)
  • 7+ years of finance technology, forecast & budgeting, or other finance-focused competency experience
  • 10+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
  • 10+ years of finance experience, or Master’s degree and 8+ years of finance experience

Nice To Haves

  • MBA, or CPA
  • Experience in a leadership position managing finance, accounting and operational processes
  • Experience working cross-functionally with a wide breadth of stakeholders, users, engineers, and leaders to generate buy-in
  • Experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable or procurement
  • Experience in retail or operations
  • 12+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Retail Leadership on strategy, developing solutions and achieving performance targets to support business growth
  • Invent and develop significant procure to pay and/or order to cash services or improvements
  • Define key performance indicators – develop operational and business metrics and service level agreements for programs and processes, and track delivery against global objectives.
  • Partner with and influence Retail, Finance, Technology, Operations and other teams to resolve process defects
  • Develop and maintain effective partnership between Finance Operations, Service Centers and Retail
  • Identify and drive opportunities for improved cash flow, margin or productivity improvements related to vendor payments and receivables
  • Solve critical vendor, process and system escalations effectively to ensure root cause analysis and effective problem resolution
  • Identify and quantify financial and operational risks and opportunities
