  • Proven track record of designing and shipping large-scale distributed systems.
  • Deep expertise in at least one primary technology stack, such as C#/.NET, Java, C++, or equivalent, and ability to quickly ramp up on and contribute to technologies in ServiceTitan’s stack.
  • Strong command of distributed systems fundamentals, including event-driven architecture, asynchronous programming, concurrency, fault tolerance, and performance tuning.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure such as Azure, AWS, or GCP, including architecture, automation, and operational practices.
  • Grounding in data architecture, including relational, NoSQL, vector databases, and distributed persistence.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML systems and LLM-based architectures, including orchestration, retrieval, and agentic patterns.

  • Coaching mindset and investment in improving engineers, teams, codebases, and architectures.
  • Breadth across engineering with deep mastery in at least one area and curiosity to develop credibility in new domains.
  • Habit of identifying risks, dependencies, and improvement opportunities early, with ownership to address them.
  • Empathy for end users and practice of grounding technical decisions in customer impact.

Responsibilities

  • Define the technical vision for a domain, plan at least 18 months ahead, write code, lead implementation, and take end-to-end accountability for quality and outcomes.
  • Produce production-ready system designs and help build them; write code and lead others in producing high-quality code.
  • Drive and participate in architectural decisions involving scale, reliability, and security.
  • Set engineering standards through implementations, code reviews, and technical decisions; conduct architecture reviews, identify systemic risks, and introduce improvements to engineering effectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities for shared systems and reusable patterns that reduce duplication and inconsistency across teams.
  • Coach and mentor Staff and Senior engineers in technical design, architecture, and systems thinking; create growth opportunities and lead cross-team knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Partner with engineering leadership on roadmaps and resource planning for company-wide initiatives.
  • Advocate for scalability, resilience, security, and performance requirements and ensure teams account for them in planning and execution.
