About The Position

Seeking a Part-Time Principal Engineer - Trainer to support a federal government client in Aiken, SC. The role involves defining the scope of technical programs, developing effective solutions, and providing technical guidance. The position also includes staff augmentation training support for the client in the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE) of assigned instructional programs. Responsibilities include attending training to qualify as an SME/instructor, reviewing course improvements, grading exams, and providing instruction for various engineering courses.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with engineering manuals, procedures, standards, and engineering programs at SRS.
  • Experience in an area relative to course of instruction and teaching experience.
  • SRS experience.
  • Ability to develop/deliver technical classroom training is required.
  • US Citizenship is required to perform this government contract.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance.
  • Must be able to attend and qualify for Subject Matter Expert / Instructor Status on numerous training topics.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Define scope of technical programs and develop effective, quality solutions to challenges.
  • Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features into problem solving and program planning.
  • Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area.
  • Provide direction and position responsibility on programs seeking new approaches to problems.
  • Evaluate the results of programs and prepare reports and recommendations.
  • Identify and recommend improvements where established technology components and methodology are inadequate.
  • Keep informed of the advancement of technology.
  • Prepare plans including schedules, budgets, and personnel requirements.
  • Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of budget, and review quality of work performed.
  • Communicate results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form.
  • Prepare reports for external publication.
  • Enhance expertise in the field through leadership in local technical societies.
  • Demonstrate creative ability through patent disclosures, problem solving, engineering reports, technical papers, and articles.
  • Provide staff augmentation training support for the client in the ADDIE of assigned instructional programs.
  • Attend training to qualify for SME/instructor status on one or more courses.
  • Review and provide input for course and exam improvements.
  • Grade course exams and provide feedback for students.
  • Provide instruction for specified engineering courses.
