This Requisition maybe filled at the Principal or Sr Principal level based on requirements listed below. Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Principal Systems Engineer - Reliability to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located onsite in Melbourne, FL. This is 100% on-site work. You will be assigned work in the Product Support organization performing System Reliability & Maintainability (R&M) Engineering Analysis. You will be responsible for establishing, monitoring, and verifying subsystem R&M performance requirements for all design changes and new development efforts to ensure that R&M program requirements are achieved. The primary responsibility of the position will be reliability, maintainability, and testability.
Requirements
- For Principal Level: Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of engineering experience OR Master’s Degree in STEM and 3 years of engineering experience OR PhD with 1 years of engineering experience.
- Sr Principal Level : Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of engineering experience OR Master’s Degree in STEM and 6 years of engineering experience OR PhD with 1 years of engineering experience.
- Experience in Reliability and Maintainability discipline
- Your ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated US Government Secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Electrical Engineering or similar Engineering Degree
- Minimum 5 years of experience within Reliability and Maintainability discipline
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
- Active, In scope US Government Top Secret or SCI clearance
Responsibilities
- Perform R&M allocations and predictions
- Develop Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) analysis
- Perform Built In Test (BIT) testability analysis
- Develop mission reliability analysis
- Support the development of teams in the investigation of issues
- Familiarity with Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
- Experience with Failure Reporting Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS)
- Experience with maintainability demonstrations
- Experience with Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT), Reliability Growth Testing (RGT), and Environmental Stress Screening (ESS)
- Liaison with Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and suppliers for the R&M of assigned subsystems
- You should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels.
- You must be able to collaborate closely with system engineers, hardware designers, and integration/test engineers.
- You may develop, coordinate and conduct technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts and design of experiments (DOE) constructs.
- Recommend design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability.
- Compile and analyze performance reports and process control statistics; investigate and analyze relevant variables potentially affecting product and processes.
- Ensure that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards.
- Analyze preliminary plans and develop reliability engineering programs to achieve company, customer and governmental agency reliability objectives.
- May develop mathematical models to identify units, batches or processes posing excessive failure risks.
- As necessary, propose changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process reliability.
- May determine units and/or batches requiring environmental testing, and specify minimum number of samples to obtain statistically valid data.
