About The Position

Rockwell Collins Inc. is hiring a Principal Engineer, Software Engineering, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to work on avionics applications including Primary Flight Displays, Maps, Windows Manager, and Video. The role involves maintaining applications and using model-based software development with Simulink, as well as testing and verification with Python and C/C++ harness environments. The engineer will architect, design, develop, and test embedded software for avionics products; collaborate on software requirements and design; implement and test software; and solve complex software and systems problems. The position also involves designing and implementing build procedures supporting hardware and software product development, and creating, documenting, and testing control and diagnostic systems using logical and mathematical solutions. The engineer will conduct multidisciplinary research with equipment designers and determine end-user needs by analyzing system capabilities, program intent, output requirements, and input data acquisition. This is an onsite, U.S.-based role. The successful candidate must be authorized to work in the United States without immigration sponsorship.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and at least 8 years of progressive experience as a Software Engineer or related role; alternatively, a master's degree or equivalent in one of these fields and at least 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer or related role.
At least 5 years of experience with RTCA DO-178C Certification, DO-330, DO-331, DO-332, FAA SOI, TCR Audits, and TSO Certification for safety-critical airworthy embedded systems.
At least 5 years of experience defining and validating system/software requirements, application architecture prototyping, low-level design, and development.
At least 5 years of experience with ARINC communications, including ARINC 429, 661, 664, and 615A.
At least 5 years of experience with Embedded C programming, debugging, troubleshooting, and hardware-software system integration.
At least 5 years of experience developing avionics software with Visual Studio, VAPS graphics, Human Machine Interface design, Python, and model-based development using MATLAB Simulink.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without company immigration sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

Maintain applications including Primary Flight Displays, Maps, Windows Manager, and Video.

Determine end-user needs by analyzing system capabilities to resolve problems involving program intent, output requirements, and input data acquisition.
