About The Position

Define and drive the performance engineering strategy for cloud-native applications hosted on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Serve as the subject matter expert for application performance, scalability, and observability across distributed systems. Analyze and optimize application performance across microservices, APIs, databases, and high-volume transaction workflows. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks impacting user experience, including patient data retrieval, historical data loading, and real-time clinical workflows. Design, execute, and oversee performance, load, stress, endurance, and scalability testing using industry-leading tools. Leverage statistical analysis and performance metrics to identify trends, forecast system behavior, and provide actionable recommendations. Collaborate with software engineering, architecture, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), database, and infrastructure teams to implement performance improvements. Lead and mentor a team of 4–5 Performance Engineers, establishing best practices, technical standards, and continuous improvement initiatives. Drive performance testing automation and integration within CI/CD pipelines. Present performance assessments, risks, capacity planning recommendations, and optimization strategies to technical leadership and executive stakeholders. Champion a performance-first engineering culture throughout the software development lifecycle.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in Performance Engineering, Performance Testing, or Application Performance Optimization.
  • Expert-level experience designing and executing enterprise-scale performance testing strategies.
  • Deep expertise with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including cloud observability, monitoring, and performance optimization.
  • Strong understanding of distributed cloud-native architectures, microservices, REST APIs, and containerized applications.
  • Experience analyzing application performance across databases, application servers, APIs, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more performance testing tools such as: OpenText LoadRunner Enterprise (LRE), Apache JMeter, Gatling
  • Strong knowledge of performance monitoring and observability platforms.
  • Experience interpreting large performance datasets and applying statistical analysis to identify trends and capacity constraints.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical findings to both engineering teams and executive leadership.
  • Proven experience leading and mentoring technical teams in fast-paced, high-availability environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting healthcare, life sciences, financial services, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Experience optimizing applications running on Google Cloud services, including Cloud Spanner.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes, container orchestration, and cloud-native deployment patterns.
  • Experience implementing performance testing within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with modern observability platforms such as Google Cloud Operations Suite, Dynatrace, New Relic, AppDynamics, or Grafana.
  • Experience with capacity planning, resiliency testing, and production performance monitoring.
