About The Position
Define scope of technical programs and develop effective, quality solutions to challenges which involve unique or controversial problems. Creatively meet all company and industry requirements and apply site systems to achieve quality, timely and cost-effective results. Provide guidance to less senior professionals. Apply technical expertise to resolve complex engineering problems and incorporate advanced technical practices into design development and program planning. Provide leadership in determining solutions and be recognized as a subject matter expert within the discipline. Prepare plans, schedules, budgets, and personnel requirements for assigned engineering tasks. Monitor progress, expenditures, and quality of work performed. Communicate results and recommendations to management, clients, and stakeholders.
Requirements
- BS in Electrical Engineering OR Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Minimum 10 years of electrical design experience in nuclear or chemical process industries
- Working knowledge of NEC, IES, NFPA, IEEE, and OSHA standards
- Experience performing electrical system calculations using software (ETAP preferred)
- Strong background in electrical system design and analysis
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE 'Q' clearance
- Ability to perform field walkdowns, including walking long distances, climbing ladders, and working in active construction environments
Nice To Haves
- Previous SRS or DOE facility experience
- Recent DOE clearance (L or Q within the past 2 years)
- MicroStation 2D CADD experience
Responsibilities
- Provide electrical design engineering support to site projects
- Perform engineering analysis and develop design output documents including: Single Line Drawings, Electrical Equipment Lists, Control System Design Schematics and connection diagrams, Electrical equipment and bulk material specifications, Circuit, raceway, and wiring design, Grounding, heat tracing, and fire detection systems, Short circuit, arc flash, and load flow calculations
- Support construction activities and perform field walkdowns
- Work within established site processes and procedures
