About The Position

Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking a Principal Engineer for CAD to implement automation and flows for custom integrated circuit design. This role offers experienced analog designers a chance to expand their influence by shaping the tools, flows, and infrastructure used across multiple business units. The position involves developing and maintaining automation utilities using Cadence SKILL and LINUX scripting languages, providing user support for Process Design Kits (PDKs) and design capture/layout tools to global design centers and technical contractors, including training and documentation. The role also contributes to methodology development for improved design productivity, such as flow automation, environment configuration, and design data management. Additionally, the engineer will help develop and maintain in-house PDKs and customize external foundry PDKs, requiring close collaboration with design teams, technology development teams, and other CAD department groups. Creating scripts to ensure compatibility and integration of simulation, physical verification, and parasitic extraction collateral within the PDK is also a key responsibility.
