About The Position

Parsons is now hiring for a Principal Structural Designer/Drafter with experience in CAD drafting for highway and/or bridge projects to join our East Central Infrastructure team reporting remotely within the region. Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent technical certificate from an accredited designer/drafter program.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in bridge structural drafting and design.
  • Proficiency with Bentley tools, including MicroStation, ProjectWise, and OpenBridge Modeler.
  • Ability to interpret and ensure conformance to applicable standards such as AASHTO, state DOT CAD standards, and company policies and procedures, including the ability to set up workspace environments.
  • Strong focus on accuracy, quality, and adherence to established drafting conventions.

Responsibilities

  • Use CAD software to prepare detailed engineering drawings, including bridge plans, elevations, sections, and details, based on preliminary sketches or general engineering information, following established standards and procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with other Designer/Drafters and Engineers to ensure coordinated and accurate designs.
  • Apply standard drafting and design principles to complete assignments efficiently and effectively.
  • Compile data and perform dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings.
  • Make necessary changes, additions, and revisions to drawings, following a structured quality control process that includes checking, backchecking, correcting, and verifying.
  • Manage the assembly and delivery of completed drawing sets within the bridge discipline.
