Principal Engineer, National Tax (Indirect Tax - Tax Technology & Transformation) (Senior Manager) (Multiple Positions) (1705058), Ernst & Young U.S. LLP, Dallas, TX. Advise clients to help navigate the digital age of tax transparency alongside new trends in tax compliance. Act as a subject matter expert to solve the most pressing tax technology challenges that businesses face. Monitor assigned tasks until completion, including documenting requirements, configuration, testing, debugging systems, documenting and implementing process change and monitoring overall project profitability. Assist with the production of leading practice indirect tax software solutions, and support and automate internal and external operations of multinational tax departments. Consolidate tax data to make analysis and planning more efficient. Ensure the architecture of solutions is aligned with the direction of organization in terms of technology and business strategy. Ensure compliance to the standards for solution architecture and integration of the relevant building blocks already available. Work side-by-side with tax-technical subject matter professionals (SMPs) to develop and deploy data and technology solutions that will enable our tax-technical SMPs to efficiently and effectively deliver quality tax consulting, with timely and responsive services and work products that meet and/or exceed client expectations. Support project team members to help ensure timely completion of deliverables. Lead and direct teams of professionals with diverse skills and backgrounds by providing constructive on-the-job feedback and coaching to team members. Develop and maintain long-term client relationships and networks. Manage risk in the delivery of quality client services. Generate and manage new business opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Tax, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field and 8 years of related work experience (of which 5 years must be progressive, post-baccalaureate). Alternatively, will accept a Master’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Tax, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field and 7 years of related work experience.
  • 7 years of combined experience in tax technology and/or business process strategy.
  • 7 years of combined experience identifying ways to automate manual tasks using existing financial systems, tax systems and/or emerging technologies.
  • 7 years of combined experience defining robust architecture for building new applications and releases, leveraging and enhancing existing building blocks, and/or creating new reusable components.
  • 7 years of experience with process analysis tools, process mapping, and flow chart diagramming.
  • 7 years of experience in the design and development of databases and web-based applications for engagements using SQL Server.
  • 7 years of experience developing ETL solutions using SQL and/or Azure Data Factory.
  • 7 years of combined experience managing large, multidisciplinary projects, including ERP implementations, tax co-sourcing engagements, and/or finance transformations.
  • 5 years of experience with Microsoft Office VBA development and/or Microsoft Power BI suite, including Power Pivot, Power Query, Power View, and Power Map.
  • 5 years of experience managing engagements, including engagement-related budgeting and billing, serving as a primary point of contact for clients, and escalating issues to partners or executives as needed.
  • 5 years of experience supervising teams consisting of at least 2 people on multiple projects and providing direction to team members.
  • Hold at least one of the following certifications/accreditations: Certified Digital Product Manager (CDPM); Project Management Professional (PMP) or Lean Six Sigma Black Belt; Master's degree in accounting, tax, business administration, finance, computer science, information systems or engineering; Certified Member of the Institute (CMI); Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or foreign equivalent; Certified Scrum Professional Certifications (CSPC); Certified SAFe Professionals; Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA); PMI Agile Certified Practitioner; Vertex Certified Implementer; Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Certified Implementer Program (CIP); Microsoft Certified Azure or DevOps Professional Certification; SQL Server Database Certification; and/or Microsoft Certified Power Platform App.
  • Requires domestic travel up to 50% and/or international travel up to 20% in order to serve client needs.
