About The Position

This Principal Equipment Engineer will work in the Ion Implant Module at Fab 9, Essex Junction, VT. This engineer will own the daily performance of a diverse set of semiconductor implant equipment types and set the strategic plans for improvements and new equipment. This role is fully onsite at this 200mm waferfab foundry facility, on a Monday - Friday daytime schedule.

Requirements

  • Education –bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, materials science, physics, or related field
  • BS + 4-5 years' relevant field experience OR MS + 2-4 years' relevant field experience OR PhD + 1-2 years' relevant field experience
  • Understanding of troubleshooting electro-mechanical and pneumatic systems
  • Understanding of pumps, high vacuum systems, and RF generators
  • Demonstrated effective problem solving and communication of action plans
  • Travel - Up to 10%
  • Fluency in English Language – both written & verbal
  • Ability to lift and carry parts up to 30 lbs., stand, or bend and crouch to inspect, or work on equipment in the clean room for extended periods of time
  • Basic data analysis
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong planning & organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Ensure execution of maintenance and tool support ensuring equipment readiness
  • Analyze and monitor technical charts
  • Ensure and follow good safety practices and custody of tools, equipment and other properties
  • Work and collaborate on other projects and/or assignments as needed
  • Collaborate daily with maintenance technicians and process engineers to meet production demands
  • Drive continuous improvement projects with respect to equipment availability, cost reduction, and yield improvement
  • Establish and manage the spare parts to meet repair budgets
  • Support cross functional problem solving, involving facilities, maintenance and process engineering
  • Work with procurement and suppliers to select strategic equipment and ensure continuity of spare part supply and quality
  • Manage installation, troubleshooting, and upgrading & startup of new or retrofit equipment while minimizing downtime
  • Mentor and lead lower-level equipment engineering team members
  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager
