About The Position

Meta's Infrastructure team is seeking a highly experienced Principal to serve as the strategic architect for our energy infrastructure portfolio. This individual will be responsible for designing the commercial frameworks, negotiating strategies, and partnership structures needed to secure the energy that fuels the future of AI and our global data center operations. This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who thinks in deal structuring — who will partner closely with the Managing Director, Energy Infrastructure to translate a partnership strategy into executed deals and delivered projects. The Principal is the economic and strategic brain behind Meta's energy infrastructure investments. Where the MD leads external relationships, negotiations, and program delivery, the Principal designs the investment architecture — determining what to invest in, how to structure it, and how to optimize risk-adjusted returns at unprecedented scale.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of structuring and supporting multi-hundred-million to billion-dollar investment decisions in energy or infrastructure
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, engineering, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of the energy market landscape, including power contracting mechanisms, utility economics, generation and transmission asset valuations, and applicable regulatory frameworks
  • Exceptional analytical and communication skills — able to distill complex analyses into clear investment narratives for executive audiences
  • Strategic, systems-level thinker with experience driving decision-making in ambiguous, high-pressure environments, with a track record of influencing executive stakeholders
  • 15+ years of experience in energy infrastructure finance, project finance, infrastructure investing, or corporate development within a large-scale technology, infrastructure, or financial services organization
  • Deep expertise in valuation for capital-intensive infrastructure assets — including project finance structures, tax equity, and complex partnership economics
  • Bachelor's degree in a directly related field, or equivalent practical experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in energy infrastructure private equity, project finance at an investment bank, or energy-focused corporate development
  • MBA, CFA, or other relevant advanced degree/credential
  • Direct experience evaluating investments in data center power infrastructure, renewable energy, or utility-scale assets

Responsibilities

  • Originate and manage partner ecosystem to create a funnel of energy capacity to serve Metas Infrastructure.
  • Create innovative partnership structures to optimize capital deployment, manage risk, and unlock new categories of energy supply.
  • Partner with legal and finance and corp dev to structure term sheets, define risk allocation, and establish governance frameworks for investment partnerships.
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert on energy infrastructure deal economics, advising on financial terms, return thresholds, and risk parameters.
  • Develop standardized evaluation frameworks and scoring models to enable consistent, data-driven decisions across regions and deal types.
  • Design complex, multi-faceted partnership structures — including direct equity investments, acquisitions, joint ventures, and partnerships with infrastructure funds and financial sponsors.
  • Work with finance and accounting teams to build and maintain reporting frameworks to track capital deployment vs.
  • budget, with variance analysis to identify cost drivers and recommend corrective actions.
  • Stay informed of technical, market, and contractual developments in the energy and major component supply industries.
  • Synthesize market intelligence — pricing trends, policy shifts, technology evolution, competitive dynamics — into actionable investment insights for leadership.
  • Develop views on emerging energy technologies and infrastructure models (e.g., nuclear, long-duration storage, behind-the-meter generation) and their investment implications.
  • Partner closely with the Managing Director, Energy Infrastructure to ensure partnership strategies are grounded in operational realities, market conditions, and counterparty feedback.
  • Collaborate with finance, treasury, and corporate development teams to align energy investment plans with Meta's broader capital allocation strategy.
  • Work with sustainability and policy teams to integrate carbon, regulatory, and ESG considerations into investment frameworks.
  • Integrate energy solutions derived from partnerships into capacity planning tools in tandem with infra cross-functional teams.
