About The Position

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is hiring a Principal Embedded Software Engineer to join the Flight / Guidance Navigation & Control (GN&C) Software Team. The position is located in Roy, Utah, and supports the Sentinel Program. The engineer will design and develop flight-system embedded software applications and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, and reliable software products.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in a STEM field and at least 5 years of related experience, a master's degree in a STEM field and at least 3 years of related experience, or a Ph.D. in a STEM field and at least 1 year of related experience.
• An active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at the time of application that is current and within scope, and the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period, as determined by the company.
• At least 2 years of experience developing software in C, C++, C#, Python, Java, or a similar programming language.
• At least 2 years of experience in object-oriented programming and design patterns, hardware/software communication interfaces, and real-time and post-processing data analytics.
• At least 2 years of full life-cycle software development and Agile software development experience.
• Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite.
• Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering using Cameo.

Nice To Haves

• Experience developing real-time software for weapon systems.
• Ability to assimilate information from multiple sources, create coherent plans, and execute those plans.
• Familiarity with secure coding best practices and static and dynamic scanning tools such as SonarQube, Fortify, Coverity, or PCLint.
• Programming and scripting experience in a UNIX environment, including C++, Perl, Python, Bash, Ruby, or shell scripts.
• Programming and scripting experience in a Windows environment.
• Experience developing and maintaining software using CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with source-code configuration management tools such as Git.
• Experience using automation to regression-test software products.
• Experience with Green Hills or VxWorks.
• Previous Special Access clearance.
