About The Position

RTX BBN Technologies is seeking a Principal Embedded Software Engineer for its Physical Sciences & Systems business unit in Middletown, Rhode Island. The role focuses on real-time embedded C software development, including work on Linux, VxWorks, or similar real-time operating systems across embedded multithreaded platforms. The engineer will integrate software with custom hardware, implement high-performance embedded solutions and middleware, and implement control, detection, and tracking algorithms developed by the systems engineering team. The position involves designing, developing, testing, debugging, and integrating real-time software in heterogeneous systems containing multiple processor types and FPGAs, with external sensor and control interfaces. The engineer will collaborate with a cross-functional team, integrate components into larger systems for testing and deployment, mentor less-experienced staff, and contribute to proposals and design reviews.
