About The Position

The Los Angeles Unified School District seeks an outstanding principal to support the students, staff, and community at Grant Elementary School towards achieving academic success for all students. Grant Elementary School, located in the East Hollywood region at the junction of Little Armenia and Thai Town, serves a diverse TK through 6th-grade population. Grant ES proudly hosts an Armenian/English Dual Language Program, currently available for students in kindergarten through 2nd grade. The campus also features specialized programs, including Pre-K (PALs). With an enrollment of over 450 students, the school reflects a rich tapestry of backgrounds: 68.20% Latino, 18.40% White (largely of Armenian descent), 5.20% African American, 4.20% Asian, and 3.40% Filipino. The school’s vibrant community is united by 16 diverse languages, from Spanish and Armenian to Thai and Bengali, fostering a unique multicultural environment at 1530 N. As an instructional visionary, the candidate must skillfully implement strategies across literacy and mathematics using the district’s adopted curricula, the Armenian Dual Language Program, and GATE, while advancing NGSS and technological integration for 21st-century success. Furthermore, the principal will provide expert guidance in Special Education, ensuring the effective execution of IEPs and school-wide behavioral supports. A commitment to working alongside their Parent Center to build a robust system that serves students and the broader community is paramount.

Requirements

• Eight years of successful full-time public school district certificated service
• A minimum of three years of experience as a teacher in a K-12 program
• A minimum of two years of experience in an elementary school
• Two years of service in a position that required and utilized an administrative credential, such as assistant principal or equivalent position.
• A valid California teaching credential requiring a bachelor’s degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching
• A valid California Administrative Services Credential
• Multicultural coursework
• Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
• District Master Plan requirements
• Candidates must be in the appropriate LAUSD eligible pool for the position or currently serving in the class for which they are applying.
• Candidates must successfully complete the appropriate LAUSD Aspiring Administrator Program to be placed in the eligible pool.
• Letter of Intent that describes successful experience in providing leadership that influences positive student outcomes
• Letter of Intent that describes successful experience in utilization of data to make informed decisions related to instructional programs
• Letter of Intent that describes successful experience in partnering with school stakeholder groups and the community to influence student outcomes
• Letter of Intent that describes successful experience in providing leadership that expects Cognitively Demanding Instruction (CDI) to support positive student outcomes
• Current resume (include employee number, if a District employee)
• A list of four (4) references with valid contact information including your current supervisor, parent/community member, a classified staff member and a teacher
