About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Principal Electrical Hardware Engineer to provide technical leadership in the design and development of Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and Printed Wiring Board Assemblies (PWBAs) for military and commercial aircraft electric systems. The ideal candidate will be capable of working with limited oversight while collaborating across multidisciplinary engineering teams to support all phases of product development, from concept through qualification and field support.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years demonstrated engineering excellence with leadership experience in electronics product development.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment, mentor junior engineers, and communicate with technical authority across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, manage, and execute to a program plan.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Aerospace or defense industry experience in electronic circuit design.
  • Familiarity with RTCA DO-160 testing and DO-254 development processes.
  • Experience with electric power systems or similar aerospace control systems.
  • Experience with Siemens EDA / Mentor Graphics tools.
  • Knowledge of requirements management and systems engineering tools including DOORS, Cameo, TeamCenter, and Polarion.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel internationally and within the United States as required.

Responsibilities

  • Design and development of electronic control units and associated PWBA hardware for aerospace applications.
  • Apply electrical and electronic engineering principles to ensure designs comply with customer requirements, regulatory standards, and internal engineering processes.
  • Collaborate with project engineering, unit leads, peer designers, and cross-functional engineering teams to develop solutions and resolve technical issues.
  • Utilize department-specific hardware processes and standard work practices to ensure design integrity and compliance.
  • Support or manage small projects and engineering processes as required.
  • Develop unit and module requirements using DOORS and/or SysML modeling tools such as Cameo.
  • Perform requirements validation and manage requirement changes using tools such as TeamCenter and Polarion.
  • Participate in conceptual and preliminary hardware architecture development.
  • Create schematic designs using Concept HDL and/or Mentor Graphics (Siemens EDA).
  • Conduct design reviews in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Perform engineering analyses including: Stress analysis, Stability analysis, Lightning analysis, Performance analysis, Additional customer-specified evaluations.
  • Support development of Test Requirement Specifications (TRS) and production test solutions.
  • Develop board-level test procedures.
  • Create RTCA DO-160 test procedures for development and qualification testing.
  • Develop and execute procedures for product development and qualification testing.
  • Support unit-level and system-level testing activities.
  • Utilize laboratory equipment to validate hardware performance.
  • Support testing activities at external and non-company locations as required.
  • Document design studies, trade studies, test results, and failure analyses.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing teams during production.
  • Lead root cause investigations and collaborate across engineering teams, customers, and manufacturing organizations to resolve field issues.
  • Address component obsolescence and support redesign efforts when necessary.
  • Interface with off-site manufacturing facilities to resolve production and quality issues.
  • Develop skills using a structured approach to Electrical Engineering Design.
