About The Position

Johnson Controls has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Electrical Engineer onsite at our Advanced Development and Engineering Center of Excellence based in New Freedom, PA. In this role, you will have the opportunity to perform complex electrical or electronic engineering assignments often requiring development of new or improved products, processes, and techniques. You will also train and mentor on cutting edge technologies and processes related to electrical, and power electronics, engineering. This position is based onsite in New Freedom, PA. Candidates must be commuting distance, or able to relocate. Johnson Controls offers various relocation packages based on your needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization within Power Electronics
  • 7+ years of industry experience in the field of power electronics or electrical engineering
  • Experience with electrical systems

Nice To Haves

  • Master's and/or Ph.D. degree with focus in Power Electronics
  • Strong experience on power electronics controls
  • Strong experience on IGBT based inverters
  • Strong experience on advanced tools such as Matlab/Simulink, OPAL-RT, Saber

Responsibilities

  • Serve as technical expert within Power Electronics Department that is responsible to design, test, and maintain power electronics products and systems for Johnson Controls’ chiller applications.
  • Determine the best techniques, procedures and/or theories as they apply to the development of power electronics products and systems.
  • Create compliance procedures for the development of electrical/electronic circuitry designs.
  • Define and interpret design specifications; design electrical/electronic circuitry to meet specified requirements; and analyzes product design requirements and recommend solutions.
  • Prepare and coordinates the release of documentation to support component design and manufacturing.
  • Participate in all aspects of preliminary design and systems architecture, and conducts analysis of the cost impacts of proposed modifications, upgrades, and new implementations of application software.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and systems analysis for new applications or major modifications of existing systems.
  • Work with other engineers, designers, and technicians on specific work assignments.
  • Forecast and schedule work activities, and defines processes for repetitive tasks.
  • Act as the technical lead for troubleshooting field and factory issues on the range of power electronics products and systems on Johnson Controls’ chillers.
