Our Airborne RF Electronics Design Department has an immediate need for a Principal Electrical Engineer to provide senior‑level radar hardware leadership across production and sustainment environments. The ideal candidate will bring deep hands‑on CCA/LRA hardware expertise, strong radar engineering proficiency, and demonstrated ability to lead complex investigations and mentor technical teams. This role is critical to maintaining technical rigor, ensuring hardware performance through production, and strengthening execution across a diverse radar hardware portfolio. The position requires close collaboration with cross‑functional teams, suppliers, and leadership, and includes periodic travel for supplier engagement. The role resides within the Surveillance & Tactical Radar Support​ section supporting SharpSight & Legacy SeaVue products at Raytheon’s McKinney, TX facility.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 8+ years of experience in radar systems
  • Experience with CCA- and LRA‑level electrical hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with updating test procedures and managing ECNs.
  • Experience with leading independent investigations
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance post-start is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Broad technical background supporting multi‑disciplinary hardware teams.
  • Experience with hardware design, analysis, and subsystem testing in lab environments.
  • Familiarity with PRISM, SAP, CMES, or other Agile engineering tools.
  • Experience driving resolution of supplier quality or manufacturability issues in collaboration with Supply Chain and Mission Assurance.
  • Demonstrates strong cross‑Raytheon engagement, maintaining collaborative networks that strengthen execution
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills suitable for engineering teams, leadership, and customers.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Leads development and integration of advanced electrical designs with significant technical complexity, safety implications, and program risk.
  • Makes independent technical decisions that influence subsystem architecture, interfaces, and downstream engineering activities.
  • Expected to resolve high-impact issues without oversight.
  • Provides technical direction to P1/P2/P3 engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams (systems, mechanical, software, manufacturing).
  • Leads design reviews, failure investigations, and cross-discipline problem‑solving sessions.
  • Acts as the primary electrical engineering representative for suppliers and customer engagements.
  • Develops and deploys design standards, best practices, and process improvements used across programs.
  • Drives design maturity, risk mitigation plans, and improvement opportunities
  • Influences technical strategy and contributes to proposal development, BOEs, and bid support.
  • Mentors junior engineers, provides technical feedback, and supports skill development within the team.
