About the position
Magic Leap is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer with 15+ years of experience to join their team and work on advanced research and product development for augmented reality (AR) devices. The role involves being a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in consumer electronic device architecture, design, integration, and verification, as well as researching new architectures and solutions. The engineer will lead the research and development of new technologies, provide technical guidance to team members, and collaborate with different teams in a multidisciplinary organization. The role is based in Plantation, Florida and requires regular office attendance.
Responsibilities
- Lead research and development of new technologies from concept to productization
- Provide technical guidance to other team members in issue resolution and product development
- Work with and drive development effort across different teams in a multidisciplinary cross-functional organization
- Drive schematic and PCB layout design
- System and component specification definition
- Simulation, modeling, design, and prototype testing
- Simulate electrical signal integrity on PCBs and flexes
- Define, optimize, and execute design verification test plans to ensure compliance with applicable industry standards
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve design issues
- Support manufacturing process, test plans, test fixture designs, etc.
- Knowledgeable in power management and implementing low power systems
- Experience leading teams researching and developing new technologies from concept to productization
- Deep understanding of mobile compute architecture and design
- Solid understanding of Digital and Analog Design principles
- Highly experienced in product system architecture design
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience as a Principal Electrical Engineer
- Expertise in consumer electronic device architecture, simulation, design, integration, and verification
- Research experience in new architectures and solutions
- Familiarity with Agile Hardware Environment
- Proficiency in leading research and development of new technologies
- Ability to provide technical guidance and support to team members
- Strong skills in schematic and PCB layout design
- Knowledge of system and component specification definition
- Experience in simulation, modeling, design, and prototype testing
- Ability to simulate electrical signal integrity on PCBs and flexes
- Familiarity with design verification test plans and industry standards compliance
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in design issues
- Support in manufacturing process, test plans, and test fixture designs
- Knowledgeable in power management and implementing low power systems
- Deep understanding of mobile compute architecture and design
- Solid understanding of Digital and Analog Design principles
- Proficiency in product system architecture design
