About The Position

The Principal Designer – Piping performs detailed design activities in the Piping discipline. Gulf Companies supports the global energy industry across the project lifecycle and provides services including engineering, procurement, construction management, field inspection, GIS integrity, and staffing.

The role performs complex piping designs and layouts, reviews vendor drawings and information, and trains and directs designers and other CAD personnel. The designer must be able to function in a lead role on projects.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of CAD experience.
• At least 10 years of design experience in a drafting environment developing P&IDs, piping plans and sections, and piping bills of materials.
• Working knowledge of applicable codes and industry standards.
• Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• CadWorx experience required.
• Microsoft Excel skills.
• High school diploma required.
• Problem-solving skills.

• Customer-focused.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Previous project leadership experience.
• Experience in piping projects for pipeline companies and/or upstream companies’ compressor stations, pump stations, and facilities.
• Associate's degree or certification from a technical trade.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex designs and layouts of Piping & Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs), piping plans, sections, isometrics, and piping bills of materials using CAD hardware and software.
• Review vendor drawings and information.
• Train and direct designers and other CAD personnel.
• Function in a lead role on projects.
