About The Position
As a Principal Data Scientist at Walmart, you will lead the development and deployment of advanced analytical models and machine learning solutions that drive strategic business decisions. About the team: The Applied AI Search & Personalization team develops advanced machine learning solutions to enhance product discovery and deliver tailored shopping experiences. Focusing on large-scale systems such as query understanding, retrieval, ranking, recommendations, personalization, and Generative AI, the team combines innovative AI research with strong engineering expertise. Members collaborate globally to design and deploy scalable models that support Walmart’s mission to provide efficient, customized services. Their work drives measurable improvements in customer engagement, conversion rates, and overall satisfaction, contributing significantly to business growth and innovation.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in machine learning, deep learning, generative AI and advanced statistical analysis to develop and deploy scalable data science solutions.
- Proficiency in programming languages including Python, SQL, and Java, with strong coding and testing capabilities.
- Expertise in data source identification, data quality assessment, and data strategy aligned with business objectives.
- Ability to design and validate analytical models using techniques such as Bayesian inference, neural networks, and hypothesis testing.
- Skilled in data visualization tools and storytelling to communicate complex insights effectively to stakeholders.
- Proven leadership in mentoring teams, driving project execution, and fostering continuous improvement.
- Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 5 years' experience in an analytics related field.
- Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 3 years' experience in an analytics related field.
- 7 years' experience in an analytics or related field

- Mentor team members on analytical techniques, model development, and data visualization best practices.
- Monitor model performance and implement continuous improvements to maintain accuracy and scalability.
