Principal Data Hall Designer

Oracle•United States,
•$114,600 - $234,600

About The Position

Oracle is hiring a Principal Data Hall Designer to lead data center white space planning, design, and optimization. The role develops and maintains room layouts, rack elevations, bills of materials, structured cabling designs, design standards, and Basis of Design documents. It also reviews site layouts, fit-out proposals, and failover configurations to ensure alignment with standards and supports scalable compute, storage, and network systems through low-voltage structured cabling designs. The designer works with colocation providers, developers, internal teams, and multidisciplinary engineering functions to translate requirements into executable designs and coordinate project scope, schedules, and updates. The role contributes independently to projects from concept through execution, leads internal and external teams during design, fit-out, and commissioning, and provides guidance on contract administration and project documentation. The position includes travel to data centers for design validation, commissioning, and engineering analysis; operational support during live events and incident investigations; and stewardship of documentation, global infrastructure standards, policies, and procedures. It also involves evaluating new designs and construction methods, creating and validating digitized data center models, assessing component and system performance, collaborating with networking and software engineering teams on network initiatives and automation, and mentoring colleagues. Core expectations include coordinating moderately complex work, collaborating inclusively, solving problems, pursuing continuous learning and improvement, and participating in candidate interviews and hiring recommendations.

  • Create and validate digitized data center models for design integrity and capacity planning.
  • Evaluate reliability and performance of components, systems, and installation methods, and provide feedback on maintenance changes.
  • Lead engineering seminars, training programs, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Collaborate with networking teams on network-related efforts such as building fabrics.
  • Partner with software engineering to design data into digital systems for automation and coordinate design data with internal systems and databases.
  • Coordinate moderately complex tasks and deliverables, delegate and prioritize work across projects, provide technical oversight, and adjust plans as needed.
  • Collaborate across the organization, align solutions with stakeholder and customer needs, and seek and respect diverse perspectives.
  • Analyze information to address moderately complex problems, escalate unresolved or critical issues, suggest solutions, and document problem-solving strategies.
