About The Position
The Principal, Data Analyst leads advanced data initiatives by translating complex business challenges into actionable insights through rigorous analysis and strategic data management. This role drives the identification and integration of high-quality data sources, develops effective visualization solutions, and mentors team members to enhance analytical capabilities. By aligning data strategies with organizational objectives, the Principal Analyst ensures measurable business impact and supports decision-making processes. The position requires expertise in data quality, exploratory analysis, and communication to influence stakeholders and foster continuous improvement across multiple business domains. The InfoSec Business Engagement & Communications team integrates cybersecurity, data, strategy, and collaboration to enhance Walmart’s security posture. The team transforms complex security data into actionable insights, supporting portfolio management, analytics, reporting, and stakeholder engagement. By partnering across Information Security, Technology, and business units, the team drives data-informed decisions, strengthens cybersecurity culture, and improves operational effectiveness. Focused on continuous improvement, the team leverages advanced analytics and visualization tools to influence strategy and enable timely, informed leadership decisions. This collaborative environment fosters problem-solving with large datasets to build a secure, resilient, and data-driven future.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Arts, Finance or related field and 4 years' experience in data analysis, data science, statistics, or related field.
- Master's degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 2 years' experience in data analysis, data science, statistics, or related field.
- 6 years' experience in data analysis, data science, statistics, or related field.
- Extensive experience in data analysis, data visualization, and exploratory data analysis using tools such as AI, Power BI and Tableau.
- Strong knowledge of data strategy, data quality management, and data architecture to ensure data is fit for purpose.
- Proficiency in statistical techniques and advanced analytics to derive actionable business insights.
- Ability to translate complex business requirements into effective data-driven solutions aligned with organizational goals.
- Expertise in mentoring and guiding team members on analytics methods, tools, and best practices.
- Familiarity with Agile methodology and automation to enhance data processes and project delivery.
Nice To Haves
- Related industry experience (for example, retail, merchandising, healthcare, eCommerce)
- Successful completion of assessments in data analysis and Business Intelligence tools and scripting languages (for example, SQL, Python, Spark, Scala, R, Power BI, or Tableau)
