About The Position

Cloudflare is seeking a Principal Content Engineer for its Developer Platform. This role is part of the Developer GTM team and is responsible for creating content that helps developers find, read, and build with Cloudflare products. The ideal candidate will translate product information and industry trends into engaging technical content, including tutorials, sample apps, and reference architectures. This role will also play a key part in shaping the next-generation learning platform for both internal teams and external developers. The position requires a hands-on approach, combining writing, engineering, and systems building skills.

Requirements

  • 12+ years at the intersection of technical content, developer education, and software engineering.
  • Portfolio demonstrating ability to both write beautifully and build what is written.
  • Exceptional technical writing and editing skills to set and standardize a high quality bar.
  • Real engineering depth, including proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript and modern web development.
  • Familiarity with version control, CI/CD, and testing.
  • Experience building things on serverless/edge platforms (Cloudflare Workers experience is a strong plus).
  • Experience building automated content systems, including pipelines, CI checks, freshness/validation tooling, and AI-assisted review or maintenance.
  • Content analytics and experimentation skills, with the ability to tie content to acquisition/activation/adoption outcomes.
  • Information architecture and editorial standards experience for a substantial technical content surface.
  • Knowledge of the developer journey and how developers discover, evaluate, and adopt platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience establishing editorial standards and information architecture for a substantial technical site or program.
  • Experience guiding a content platform migration or redesign.
  • Knowledge of evaluation frameworks or observability for AI-powered systems.
  • Understanding of what makes a tutorial convert and a narrative land.

Responsibilities

  • Own the content architecture for Developer GTM, defining content types, editorial standards, and quality bar.
  • Curate and shape team content, including editing for clarity, consistency, and relevance.
  • Build and run systems to scale content quality, such as self-healing pipelines, AI-assisted review, CI checks, and quality guardrails.
  • Treat content as software, ensuring it is versioned, tested, and continuously improved.
  • Write and build flagship content, including deep technical tutorials, reference architectures, and runnable demos for the Developer Platform.
  • Translate complex distributed-systems concepts into understandable content for developers.
  • Partner with Growth, DevRel, Product, and PMM to align content with the developer journey.
  • Define and track measures of content quality and discoverability, using analytics and experimentation for improvement.
  • Build AI-assisted content tooling and guardrails, ensuring content is discoverable by AI agents and LLMs.
  • Identify emerging developer behaviors and workloads, translating them into narratives and content that position Cloudflare as a leading platform.
  • Establish conventions, templates, and tooling for content creators across GTM teams.
  • Mentor and coach team members to maintain a high content quality bar.
