About The Position

AEI is seeking a senior-level consultant with a proven track record of technical excellence and business development to join our well-established and growing Site Mitigation Division. The ideal candidate will bring an established network and book of business, or the demonstrated ability to develop lasting client relationships and grow new business opportunities. This individual will serve as a key technical leader in the Chicago market and bring an established client network that can benefit from AEI’s full spectrum of services. Primary responsibilities include pursuing new business, developing and maintaining client relationships, and driving revenue growth. The candidate will work collaboratively with Site Mitigation Division leadership and AEI’s Chief Revenue Officer to develop and implement a business development plan for the Chicago market, with support from our local and regional team of skilled field staff and project managers to implement and manage project work. Requirements

  • 20+ years of experience as an environmental consultant performing technical work, staff and operational leadership, and client management with a successful record of business development efforts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong business acumen.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit with enthusiasm for being a primary contributor to growth. self-starter, resourceful, with attention to detail and the ability to work productively.

Nice To Haves

  • Ideally, candidate maintains a consistent $750,000 - $2,000,000 established annual book of business.
  • Professional Engineer and/or Geologist license in CA is preferred, but not necessary
  • Current OSHA 40-hour "HAZWOPER" training certification strongly preferred, additional Health and Safety training a plus

Responsibilities

  • Leverage existing client relationships and industry presence to expand AEI’s client base and strengthen key relationships.
  • Combine business development, relationship management, and technical expertise to support revenue growth.
  • Develop new sales opportunities through technical sales, conference attendance, preparation of technical papers, blogs, and presentations, and participation in virtual or in-person client meetings.
  • Client meetings, and clear communication of AEI’s value proposition.
  • Research new accounts and attend networking events to identify and develop client leads.
  • Maintain client satisfaction by aligning AEI’s technical capabilities with client needs.
  • Meet sales goals while maintaining AEI’s standards for technical quality.
  • Work with the National Division Lead to develop and implement a Site Mitigation expansion plan for the Southwest region, with potential contributions to other regions.
  • Maintain an active LinkedIn presence on behalf of AEI and the Site Mitigation Division to expand name recognition and strengthen AEI’s brand within the environmental industry.
  • Collaborate with senior and principal engineers and geologists and support mentorship of junior staff.
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic and consistently deliver high-quality technical consulting work.
  • Maintain a balance of utilization and sales goals, to be established and modified based on annual sales generated and prospecting opportunities generated.
  • Maintain professional licenses and stay current with relevant regulatory and technical topics.
  • Participate in managing and/or implementing project work as needed to support client service and meet regional demands.
  • Provide senior-level proposal and review and contribute to the preparation of similar deliverables.
  • Participate in technical discussions with clients and AEI sales team members to support revenue growth.
  • Participate in Division meetings and collaborate with senior leadership to foster a culture of collaborative technical sales and teamwork.
  • Maintain a current and thorough understanding of local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
  • Serve as a point of contact with regulatory agencies, clients, and legal counsel, representing AEI and the Site Mitigation Division.
