About The Position

Vantor is seeking a Principal/Chief Engineer for a High Performance Computing (HPC) environment. This role will be responsible for the oversight and overall delivery of HPC and private cloud solutions developed for multiple customer program offices. As the Chief Engineer for the HPC solutions team, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the overall work effort and products of the engineering and system administration staff over the full lifecycle of programs and projects for engineering, integration and deployment. This includes performing systems requirements analysis, functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition, technical management, architecture design, integration, system testing, and quality assurance. This role requires exceptional ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness to oversee system definition, technical planning, and execution across different parts of the program. The team is a multi-faceted software development and systems administration team working to build and maintain software applications backed by a self-managed high-performance compute (HPC) infrastructure on a private cloud system. They are responsible for the system from the hardware to the user interface, using a lean systems engineering approach where engineers are part of an agile, cross-function development and deployment team and directly involved in supporting the delivery of value to the mission. Prototyping and frequent, iterative feedback are core to their delivery approach, anchored by a need to work quickly in support of their missions.

Requirements

Current/active TS/SCI security clearance and be willing and able to obtain CI polygraph.
BS in Engineering or related field or equivalent experience with 15+ years in computer science, systems development, product development, system engineering or related field
Experience in leading a professional staff, demonstrating strong leadership skills.
Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills with the ability to relate well and cooperate with others to effectively coordinate activities and accomplish goals.
Ability to set and balance short and long-term priorities and remain focused within a rigorous, fast-paced, and dynamic environment.
Familiarity with risk management
Experience working in the DoD / Intelligence Community
Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Responsibilities

Technical support, coordination, and execution of engineering activities for hardware, platforms, and software development and deployment - including feature/requirements analysis, design and program implementation
Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility
Lead the development and maintenance of system documentation, diagram, and models working in coordination/collaboration with team members
Obtain solid understanding of hardware and software features in order to plan for engineering requirements and roadmaps
Assist with resolution of technical issues that adversely impact delivery, identifying and supporting external dependencies where needed
Keeps abreast of the dynamic industry of cyber security, technologies, and developing threats world-wide.
Partner with cross-departmental management to coordinate initiatives in line with the overall program strategy and an emerging perspective focusing on secure HPC.
Manage/supervise professional staff, demonstrating strong delegation skills to efficiently accomplish the mission and professionally develop subordinate staff.
