About The Position

The Principal, Business Transformation (Operations Excellence Analyst) is a senior-most individual contributor within the Business Transformation organization, responsible for leading complex, high-impact operational excellence initiatives across the enterprise. This role operates as a hands-on execution leader, driving end-to-end process optimization, throughput improvement, and operating model transformation. Unlike manager or director roles, the Principal Analyst does not have direct people management responsibilities, but is expected to own outcomes, influence cross-functional partners, and lead initiatives through expertise and execution. The Principal Operations Excellence Analyst serves as a critical extension of Operations leadership, ensuring transformation initiatives are operationally grounded, data-driven, and deliver measurable, sustained results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Healthcare Administration, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7–10+ years of experience in: Operational excellence, Business transformation, Process optimization, Operations leadership or consulting.
  • Proven experience driving enterprise-level initiatives with measurable results.
  • Strong executive communication and influence skills.
  • Ability to lead complex work independently without direct authority.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in healthcare revenue cycle, payer operations, or complex services environments.
  • Background in Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, or similar improvement methodologies.
  • Experience operationalizing technology, automation, or AI-enabled workflows.
  • Experience working closely with Product and Engineering teams in matrixed organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead high-impact operational excellence initiatives focused on throughput acceleration, cycle time reduction, productivity optimization, quality, consistency, and scalability.
  • Diagnose current-state workflows to identify bottlenecks, waste, and variability.
  • Design and implement future-state workflows that are standardized, scalable, and automation-ready.
  • Own delivery of measurable outcomes, not just recommendations.
  • Independently lead complex transformation initiatives across core operational domains (e.g., denials, complex claims, payment variance, appeals, and backend RCM workflows).
  • Translate strategic objectives into executable plans and deliver tangible results.
  • Coordinate across Business Transformation, Operations, Product, AI, Engineering, Data, and PMO/TPMO partners.
  • Proactively surface risks, tradeoffs, and decision points to leadership.
  • Act as a trusted thought partner to Operations leadership on workflow design and execution decisions.
  • Influence Product, AI, and Engineering teams to ensure solutions are operationally viable and scalable.
  • Serve as an execution lead in cross-functional forums without relying on positional authority.
  • Develop standardized operating procedures, playbooks, and execution frameworks.
  • Define guardrails and governance models to sustain improvements post-implementation.
  • Ensure ownership transitions smoothly from transformation to steady-state Operations.
  • Maintain and regularly update process and workflow documentation to reflect ongoing changes and ensure accuracy.
  • Define and track KPIs that measure operational health and transformation impact.
  • Use data to validate outcomes, identify course corrections, and prioritize investments.
  • Partner with Analytics and Ops Insights teams to reinforce fact-based decision making.
  • Embed change management best practices into all initiatives.
  • Ensure workflows, tools, and process changes are adopted and sustained.
  • Reinforce continuous improvement mindset across partnered teams.
