About The Position

At Capital One, our Enterprise Supplier Management (ESM) teams are seeking a Principal Associate, International Supplier Management. As a Principal Associate, you will be responsible for the supplier relationship lifecycle, spanning from sourcing through offboarding. You will act as a key operational partner, executing on supplier management initiatives and contributing to the standardization of global best practices. This role requires a practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving. You will often navigate evolving environments where process steps are not fully defined, requiring you to proactively seek clarity and execute on tactical direction from leadership to ensure consistent, timely results. Utilizing procurement methodologies and analytics, you will ensure that supplier solutions meet requirements across diverse categories, such as IT/SaaS, Professional services, Travel, Financial, HR, and Marketing. Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent Certification
  • At least 3 years of experience in Sourcing, Relationship Management, Supplier Management, Procurement, Project Management, Process Management, or a combination of these

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree or military experience
  • At least 4 years of experience in Procurement, Sourcing, Operations Management, or Risk Management, or a combination of these
  • Experience managing global third-party portfolios, including navigating cross-border regulatory environments, diverse operational landscapes, and multi-region stakeholder groups.

Responsibilities

  • Support the creation and execution of strategic and innovative solutions that drive value across our global footprint.
  • Actively support the standardization of supplier management frameworks to foster operational excellence across our procurement teams.
  • Partner with subject matter experts to integrate specialized feedback into contract terms, ensuring alignment with global requirements and internal standards.
  • Act as the primary liaison for third-party entities and facilitate robust governance structures between Capital One and its external partners.
  • Collaborate with a variety of international business divisions and global risk departments to maintain compliance across different legal jurisdictions and ensure the uniform implementation of policies.
  • Ensure third parties meet all contractual obligations through consistent activity monitoring.
  • Ensure all managed third-party relationships adhere to policy requirements, while also planning and executing routine supplier relationship assessments and reviews.
  • Lead innovative procurement efforts that emphasize balancing speed, quality, and cost to fulfill internal requirements while making sure every partner meets our standards.
  • Demonstrate agility in navigating ambiguous tasks by identifying creative solutions and proactively seeking guidance when processes are undefined.
  • Take ownership of tactical assignments, translating managerial direction into high-quality deliverables to streamline our operational workflow and support team objectives.
