About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a high-caliber, Principal, Architect to join our Transit Group practice in either Los Angeles or San Francisco office. The successful candidate will be part of the team, helping to win, design and mentor a team of architects on Transit projects. This role offers the chance to shape the design of large-scale transit facilities with opportunities for local, national, and international work. 15+ years of experience required managing multi-disciplinary teams, serving as the client liaison, and solving complex challenges with creative, elegant solutions; 5+ years of recent and relevant Rail, Bus facility experience. Requirements

  • Architectural Degree from a NAAB accredited program, Masters’ degree is preferred
  • Licensed Architect with current registration and minimum 20 years experience required
  • Have an NCARB file or be able / eligible to secure one within 45 days of hire.
  • Ability to think strategically and with an equal interest in business and practice issues with a minimum of 12 years of experience
  • Existing relationships in the following private sectors; mixed use residential, commercial, hospitality, and retail
  • Experience with large complex projects within a large multi-disciplinary practice
  • Strategic thinking leadership skills, with an ability to connect business with practice
  • Comprehensive understanding of project coordination and related requirements of all disciplines, under demanding deadlines
  • Demonstrate creativity, passion and interest in design

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Practice Group Manager and Leaders in Transit to grow the transit practice in the region
  • Leverage your existing experience and relationships with the national and global experience of the firm to grow your respective market
  • Develop and maintain key relationships within our internal organization
  • Lead and facilitate cross-sector / discipline / office efforts through collaboration and the development of inter-office relationships
  • Develop and grow client relationships primarily in Urban Mixed-Use development, high rise residential, hospitality and commercial office sectors, primarily in the area
  • Develop and maintain key contacts in that industry
  • Lead and participate in pursuits for business development including writing and reviewing cost and technical proposals.
  • Manage projects including develop cost proposals, work breakdown structures, monitor and adapt both through the life of projects.
  • Create and update risk management plans
  • QA/QC small to complex projects and be the Architect of Record (AOR) on projects around the United States.
  • Lead and foster client relationships and project presentations
  • Inspire confidence as a subject matter expert in the Living Practice Group
  • Provide high level guidance to achieve a trusted partner status with clients
  • Hands-on involvement and leadership with project design, coordination, preparation, and delivery of project document
  • Motivate, mentor, and delegate work to team members
