About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated Principal Applications Scientist with expertise in Mass Spectrometry, Analytical Instrumentation, and Semiconductor Manufacturing Processes to support the development and deployment of next-generation analytical solutions. This is a customer-facing technical leadership role responsible for developing application-specific solutions, supporting semiconductor OEMs and fabrication facilities, conducting product demonstrations, and driving technical engagements throughout the customer lifecycle. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mass spectrometry-based technologies, semiconductor process applications, and customer-facing technical support.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree with 6+ years of experience OR PhD with 2+ years of experience in: Physics Chemistry Electrical Engineering Materials Science Related Scientific Discipline
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience developing or supporting mass spectrometry-based solutions.
  • Experience working with analytical instrumentation such as: Mass Spectrometers Gas Analyzers Residual Gas Analyzers (RGA) Plasma Diagnostics Systems
  • Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing processes, including: Etch CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition)
  • Experience supporting customer evaluations, installations, demonstrations, and technical engagements.
  • Strong troubleshooting and system-level problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and customer-facing skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with semiconductor equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and semiconductor fabrication facilities.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, automation systems, and industrial controls.
  • Experience with Python, LabVIEW, or similar scripting/programming tools.
  • Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI), prototype evaluation, and product commercialization.
  • Experience translating customer requirements into technical product enhancements and application solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop deep technical expertise in advanced mass spectrometry and analytical instrumentation products.
  • Support customer evaluations, proof-of-concept activities, and system deployments at semiconductor OEMs and fabrication facilities.
  • Configure, calibrate, validate, troubleshoot, and optimize analytical instrumentation systems.
  • Develop new application workflows and market-driven solutions aligned with customer requirements.
  • Conduct on-site installation, setup, debugging, and performance analysis of instrumentation systems.
  • Collaborate with customers to identify application-specific requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, training sessions, and workshops.
  • Analyze customer samples and provide technical reports to support business development and sales activities.
  • Partner with engineering, product management, sales, and marketing teams to support product development and roadmap planning.
  • Contribute to next-generation product definition, evaluation, and commercialization efforts.
  • Build and maintain strong technical relationships with customers and industry partners.
  • Identify emerging market opportunities and contribute to proposal development and solution strategies.
