About The Position

The Principal Analytics Consultant on HCSC’s Health Economics Team provides analytic support and consulting for the company’s largest Commercial clients and advises internal senior leaders on population health and insurance. The role uses advanced technical skills and healthcare industry knowledge to support client engagements, interpret medical claims and related datasets, and help clients understand plan costs and health drivers. As a senior team member, the consultant leads external client engagements and internal projects, clarifies business problems, and determines effective paths to deliver results. The position involves communicating and presenting to C-suite stakeholders, collaborating internally on opportunities to address identified drivers, and partnering with management to scale and market impactful client engagements. As a technical subject matter expert, the consultant also designs and maintains standard data layers, develops coding standards and documentation, and troubleshoots analytic development challenges. This is a hybrid Flex role requiring at least three days per week in the office and two days working from home. Compensation is listed as $102,000 to $184,300 annually, with eligibility for an annual incentive bonus plan.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree and 8 years of experience in health care services, statistical analysis, insurance industry economics, or a related field; or a master's degree and 6 years of such experience; or a PhD and 4 years of such experience; or 12 years of such experience.
Strong understanding of and proficiency in querying a wide variety of internal and external data sources.
Strong analytical skills and proficiency in programming languages such as SQL, Python, and R.
Ability to create dynamic, visually engaging dashboards using Tableau or Power BI.
Strong business intelligence and ability to take a business case from inception through customer or partner execution.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to lead multiple analytics projects in parallel.
Analytics subject matter expertise.
Ability to champion initiatives and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
Ability to work under pressure and deliver high-quality work to senior leadership within short timelines.

Nice To Haves

A master's degree and 8 years of experience in health care services, statistical analysis, or insurance industry economics, including 6 years analyzing medical claims data.
Experience using techniques such as case-control studies, regression analyses, principal component analyses, clustering, propensity scoring, classification, and ROI calculations to produce actionable insights.
Experience with Databricks.
Experience with version control and collaborative tools.
