About The Position

H1 is seeking a senior clinical data expert to lead the strategy for clinical data that powers its platform. The Principal Analyst will determine which clinical data sets to acquire, how they should be structured and interpreted, and how to ensure they are trustworthy. The role focuses on clinical and trial operations sources, including standards of care, drug lists, study start-up and regulatory cycle times, and CTMS data. This is a senior individual-contributor and thought-leader position that works cross-functionally and influences through expertise and collaboration. The analyst partners closely with engineering teams that build and run ingestion pipelines, defining requirements, data definitions, and quality standards while engineering owns pipeline build and operations. The role also collaborates with product, data science, commercial, legal, privacy, and compliance teams, and represents clinical data expertise to executives, customers, and external partners.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience in clinical, healthcare, or life sciences data, with deep hands-on expertise in clinical trial operations data and real-world clinical data.
  • Demonstrated expertise in at least two of the following domains (all are preferred): standards of care; drug lists; study start-up times; regulatory cycle times; CTMS data.
  • Working knowledge of clinical and coding standards such as OMOP, FHIR, HL7, ICD-10, CPT, NDC, LOINC, and SNOMED, and of data quality frameworks.
  • Track record of defining data requirements and quality standards for engineering teams to build against.
  • Experience evaluating and working with external data vendors and partners.
  • Ability to partner with product teams to connect data sources to product value and prioritize them accordingly.
  • Ability to explain complex clinical data topics clearly to executives, engineers, and customers.
  • Hands-on comfort with SQL or an equivalent tool for profiling, validating, and investigating data issues.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or technical field; an advanced degree such as PharmD, MPH, or PhD is a plus.
  • Background at a pharma, CRO, healthcare data, or health-tech company.
  • Experience with CTMS, EDC, or clinical operations platforms.
  • Familiarity with entity resolution, master data management, or AI/ML-assisted data mapping and validation.
  • Experience mentoring or informally leading cross-functional teams without direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Define the clinical data acquisition strategy, including source priorities and whether to build, buy, or partner.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on clinical data content, including standards of care, drug lists, study start-up times, regulatory cycle times, and CTMS data.
  • Specify how data sets should be modeled, normalized, and mapped to standard vocabularies; document business rules and definitions.
  • Set data quality standards and acceptance criteria for completeness, accuracy, freshness, and consistency, and review source data and ingested outputs against them.
  • Partner with data engineering on ingestion requirements, source onboarding, and prioritization, and hold engineering accountable to data quality outcomes without owning pipeline build or operations.
  • Evaluate and onboard data partners and vendors, assessing coverage, provenance, and fitness for use.
  • Partner with product teams to prioritize data sources based on product and customer use cases; translate product needs into acquisition priorities and collaborate with data science and commercial teams to ensure ingested data supports those needs.
  • Work with legal, privacy, and compliance teams on data-use terms and de-identification requirements.
  • Influence the data roadmap and represent clinical data expertise to executive leadership, customers, and external partners.
