About The Position

Hi Marley is seeking a Principal AI Product Engineer to join their new AI Operations team. This is an internal-facing role focused on building the infrastructure and tools that enable all Hi Marley departments to function cohesively. The role involves understanding data flow, designing internal knowledge systems, decision-making surfaces, and agent development patterns. The ideal candidate will have a blend of design taste and the ability to ship products, with a strong product orientation to manage a portfolio of internal products. This role requires collaboration with a Technical Infrastructure counterpart and involves working in the Boston office 2-3 days per week.

Requirements

• Hybrid design and engineering skills with strong design instincts and the ability to ship production code.
• Proficiency in modern frontend stacks including React, Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind, and shadcn/ui (or equivalents).
• Comfortable touching the backend when necessary.
• Experience living in agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor, where craft is shaped by these tools.
• Product instinct to manage multiple internal asks, prioritize by leverage, and ship a coherent portfolio of small products.
• Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to say no.
• Strong UI judgment calls regarding spacing, motion, and information density.
• Systems thinking about data and tools, considering data architecture and centralization/decentralization.
• Excellent communication skills to present work to various audiences and explain decision-making.
• Willingness to learn and become proficient in AWS services (Cognito, Bedrock, CDK) if not already familiar.

Responsibilities

• Build the internal operating fabric of Hi Marley by designing and shipping tools such as internal knowledge systems, decision-making surfaces, dashboards, catalogs, and agent-builder UIs.
• Ensure the data layer is correct by understanding data flow across the company and designing experiences that expose the appropriate data slices to the right audiences.
• Design how internal agents are built and shipped by creating surfaces and patterns for composing, registering, and trusting authored agents.
• Manage a portfolio of small internal products by taking in company-wide requests, prioritizing based on leverage, sequencing work, and shipping.
• Balance centralized vs. decentralized capabilities, making calls on platform vs. team ownership in collaboration with engineering and ops leadership.
• Partner with the Technical Infrastructure counterpart, owning the experience layer on top of the platform spine.
• Utilize agentic coding tools like Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor to ship at a high velocity.
