About The Position

We are looking for a Principal Adviser, Leadership Development, to help shape the future of leadership capability across Rio Tinto. You’ll design and deliver impactful leadership development experiences that build readiness, effectiveness and pipeline strength at critical leadership levels. Working at an enterprise level, you’ll translate emerging workforce, digital and leadership trends into scalable development solutions aligned to Rio Tinto’s strategy, leadership expectations and succession priorities. You’ll partner closely with Talent, Learning, Workforce Strategy and business stakeholders to ensure leadership development is integrated, evidence‑based and focused on real business impact. Requirements

  • Deep experience in leadership development architecture and enterprise capability building within complex organisations.
  • Comfortable operating strategically while also designing practical, scalable solutions that deliver measurable value.
  • Demonstrated experience designing enterprise leadership development frameworks, pathways and operating models
  • Strong capability in evidence‑based leadership development and experience design
  • A future‑focused mindset, with awareness of emerging leadership, workforce and digital trends
  • Confidence integrating leadership development with succession, performance and workforce priorities
  • Experience establishing governance, standards and value measurement for leadership development portfolios
  • Strong stakeholder partnering skills, including with senior leaders and external providers
  • Systems thinking and the ability to design ecosystems rather than stand‑alone solutions
  • A balance of strategic influence and pragmatic delivery

  • Establish and maintain enterprise standards, governance and quality measures for leadership development
  • Partner with Talent, Learning, Workforce Strategy and senior stakeholders to ensure integrated leadership outcomes
  • Drive continuous improvement, simplification and productivity across leadership development solutions
