About The Position

At Amazon, Prime Air is redefining last-mile delivery through drone technology, aiming to deliver packages to customers in under an hour safely, reliably, and at scale. The team consists of engineers, operators, and innovators. This role offers a fast-paced, hands-on environment for leading teams, driving results, and contributing to cutting-edge operations. The Prime Air Area Manager will serve as a front-line leader responsible for executing daily operations at a Prime Air Drone Delivery Station. This involves leading and supporting teams across flight operations, ground handling, and fulfillment to ensure safe, efficient, and customer-focused delivery performance.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of direct people management, including performance management and employee development experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon experience
  • Experience in a fast-paced, automated, industrial, logistics, production or manufacturing environment
  • Experience reviewing and analyzing performance metrics to identify areas of opportunity that will drive performance improvement
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
  • Ability to work in an outdoor operational environment and perform physical tasks (standing/walking up to 12 hours, lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, reaching, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in aviation, drone operations, or a similar real-time monitoring role
  • Experience working cross-functionally across several teams both technical and non-technical

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support teams across flight operations, ground handling, and fulfillment to ensure safe, efficient, and customer-focused delivery performance
  • Drive key operational metrics including safety, quality, and delivery efficiency
  • Monitor real-time operations to remove barriers and maintain system uptime
  • Partner with Operations Managers and cross-functional teams to execute staffing and operational plans
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards
  • Identify and implement process improvements
  • Develop and coach associates
  • Provide clear escalation and communication during active operations
  • Directly manage a team of hourly associates, overseeing scheduling, performance management, and day-to-day coaching and development
  • Address associate relations matters including attendance, performance concerns, and corrective action as needed
  • Maintain accurate timekeeping, headcount tracking, and staffing records for your team
