About The Position

St. John Catholic School in Westminster, Maryland, is seeking a full-time Primary School Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic school year. Requirements

  • Degree in Education.
  • MSDE Certification or the ability to obtain certification in 1-2 years.
  • Experience in student teaching or classroom teaching at the elementary school level.
  • Familiarity with a variety of technology tool to enrich and differentiate instruction.
  • Strong instructional and communication skills.
  • Commitment to Catholic education.
  • Ability to build meaningful relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Passion for educating young learners and supporting their growth as children of God.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and delivering standards-based instruction.
  • Assessing student progress.
  • Differentiating instruction to meet individual learning needs.
  • Maintaining effective classroom management.
  • Collaborating with colleagues and families to support student success.
  • Integrating faith into daily classroom experiences.
  • Serving as a positive role model for students.
  • Create and implement lesson plans with clear objectives inline with the Archdiocesan Course of Study, utilizing techniques to motivate, challenge, engage, and inspire students to think confidently and independently.
  • Responsible for the safety and active supervision of students.
  • Integrate the use of technology effectively into the curriculum.
  • Establish reasonable standards for student achievement.
  • Observe and assess student progress, record such progress, and share with parents as required by school policy.
  • Maintain high professional standards consistent with the mission of the school and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Interact effectively and respond to all parent communications in a professional and timely manner.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, collaborative planning meetings, retreats, school committees, and in-service learning opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, and administration.
