About The Position

The Environmental Charter School is seeking a highly dedicated and motivated individual to commit to a long-term assignment as a Primary School Long Term Substitute Assistant Teacher from December 2026 to May 2027. Successful candidates must be progressive minded, embody a can-do spirit and work ethic, and have a "whatever it takes" attitude. The Environmental Charter School's faculty and staff are passionate, talented, and uncompromising, with a mission to ensure all students succeed at a high level, guided by principles of catalyst, character, collaboration, and commitment. The school's work is student-centered, constantly improving, and reflective, challenging faculty to take risks and valuing collaboration and systems thinking. The ECS Assistant Teacher has a strong interest in problem-based learning, small group instruction, differentiation, and supporting the instructional needs of the lead teacher. They work collaboratively with classroom teachers, special educators, building specialists, and the Building Leadership Team to provide rigorous and engaging learning opportunities. Candidates should be energetic and progressive minded, with a willingness to work collaboratively with building staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • PA teaching certification
  • Commitment to the long-term assignment (December 2026 - May 2027)

  • Clearances current within one year of employment date (Arrest & Conviction Disclosure, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151), Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Clearance (Act 114), FBI Criminal Background Check, Commonwealth of PA Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release (Act 168), and Mandated Reporter Training)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with teachers to support and reinforce compelling, standards-based lessons that challenge students’ critical thinking and align with lesson, unit, and grade-level objectives
  • Support a positive, achievement-oriented, and structured learning environment in which all students can experience success
  • Actively engage with the school community by attending annual ECS events such as Earth Night, Back to School Night, Enrollment Events and Curriculum Nights
  • Fully participate in opportunities for professional growth
  • Become familiar with student IEP goals and report progress regarding student performance and behavior to supervising teacher
