About The Position

HealthTexas Primary Care Doctors is seeking a Primary Care Physician (M.D./D.O.) for a fast-paced, challenging, and evolving work environment. Our medical group is a recognized leader in preventive primary healthcare, with many physicians ranked nationally and locally. Established by local physicians over twenty-eight years ago, HealthTexas provides primary care to families in San Antonio, Boerne, New Braunfels, and Schertz. We have grown to over 60 healthcare providers in 18 clinics. Our physicians benefit from smaller patient panels (16-20 patients per day), allowing them to focus on comprehensive care for Medicare Advantage HMO senior populations. We encourage well visits, proactive outreach to at-risk patients, same-day urgent appointments, and traditional care management. Requirements

  • Medical Doctorate (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.)
  • Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Geriatric Medicine preferred
  • Medical License in the state of Texas
  • DEA License
  • Up-to-date CPR Certification
  • Demonstrated expertise in treating and managing Medicare Advantage populations with multiple comorbidities
  • Specific managed care experience
  • Virtual medical treatment experience
  • Experience in management of high-risk population in complex care program

Responsibilities

  • Provide the full scope of primary care services, including diagnosis, treatment, coordination of care, preventive care, and health maintenance.
  • Comply with all Organizational policies and procedures, as well as pertinent state and federal regulations.
  • Treat internal disorders, such as hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, and problems of the lung, brain, kidney, and gastrointestinal tract.
  • Treat chronic diseases or disorders.
  • Prescribe or administer medication, therapy, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.
  • Administer non-intravenous medications.
  • Prescribe treatments or therapies.
  • Prescribe medications.
  • Explain medical procedures or test results to patients or family members.
  • Manage and treat common health problems, such as infections, influenza, and pneumonia, as well as serious, chronic, and complex illnesses, in adolescents, adults, and the elderly.
  • Treat acute illnesses, infections, or injuries.
  • Analyze records, reports, test results, or examination information to diagnose medical conditions.
  • Provide and manage long-term, comprehensive medical care, including diagnosis and nonsurgical treatment of diseases, for adult patients.
  • Collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical history, reports, and examination results.
  • Supervise Advanced Practice Clinicians (Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners).
