About The Position

HealthTexas Primary Care Doctors is seeking a passionate Primary Care Physician (M.D./D.O.) to join our fast-paced, challenging, and evolving work environment. We are a leading medical group in preventive primary healthcare, recognized for our commitment to improving community health. Established by local physicians over twenty-eight years ago, we serve families in San Antonio, Boerne, New Braunfels, and Schertz with 18 clinics and over 60 healthcare providers. Our physicians benefit from smaller patient panels (16-20 patients per day), a focus on outpatient medicine, and dedicated time for comprehensive care of Medicare Advantage HMO senior populations. We encourage well visits, proactive outreach to at-risk patients, same-day urgent appointments, and traditional care management. Requirements

  • Medical Doctorate (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.)
  • Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Geriatric Medicine preferred
  • Medical License in the state of Texas
  • DEA License
  • Up-to-date CPR Certification
  • Demonstrated expertise in treating and managing Medicare Advantage populations with multiple comorbidities
  • Specific managed care experience
  • Experience with virtual medical treatment
  • Experience in management of high-risk population in complex care program

Responsibilities

  • Provide the full scope of primary care services within the physician's training, including diagnosis, treatment, care coordination, preventive care, and health maintenance.
  • Comply with all Organizational policies and procedures, as well as pertinent state and federal regulations.
  • Demonstrate expertise in treating and managing Medicare Advantage populations with multiple comorbidities.
  • Utilize virtual medical treatment methods.
  • Manage and treat high-risk populations in complex care programs.
  • Treat internal disorders such as hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, and problems of the lung, brain, kidney, and gastrointestinal tract.
  • Treat chronic diseases or disorders.
  • Prescribe or administer medication, therapy, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.
  • Administer non-intravenous medications.
  • Prescribe treatments or therapies.
  • Prescribe medications.
  • Explain medical procedures or test results to patients or family members.
  • Manage and treat common health problems, such as infections, influenza, and pneumonia, as well as serious, chronic, and complex illnesses, in adolescents, adults, and the elderly.
  • Treat acute illnesses, infections, or injuries.
  • Analyze records, reports, test results, or examination information to diagnose medical conditions.
  • Provide and manage long-term, comprehensive medical care, including diagnosis and nonsurgical treatment of diseases, for adult patients in a clinic.
  • Collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical history, reports, and examination results.
  • Supervise Advanced Practice Clinicians (Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners).
