Pricing Specialist, AFS
About The Position
The Pricing Specialist provides administrative support for direct store delivery (DSD) pricing, report development, and analysis. The role prepares deal sheets, conducts competitive analysis for retail items, and maintains data integrity in the server that serves as Associated Food Stores’ master file. It also supports tasks that contribute to program growth and performs clerical and retail-support work. The Pricing Specialist builds and maintains strong relationships with vendors and retail store team members through effective communication by phone, email, and in person. The position provides pricing support and guidance to retail teams, advises retailers on pricing issues, gross margins, and pricing options, and assists with developing pricing structures and pricing zones. It also develops educational resources and presentations for management and retail stores. Regular on-site attendance is required; use of a personal vehicle may be necessary for travel.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and related software.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in all situations.
- Strong creative problem-solving and organizational abilities, with attention to detail.
- Demonstrable mathematical and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks efficiently.
- Regular on-site attendance is required.
- A personal vehicle may be necessary for travel.
Nice To Haves
- College degree preferred.
- Grocery retail environment experience or equivalent data analytics experience preferred.
- Broad knowledge of DSD products and processes is advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive administrative pricing support to retail teams.
- Communicate important pricing information by phone, email, and in person.
- Respond to team members’ and leaders’ pricing inquiries and provide guidance and support.
- Advise retailers on pricing issues, gross margins, and available pricing options.
- Assist in defining and refining pricing structures for retail stores.
- Research, develop, and maintain pricing zones.
- Develop and communicate educational resources, presentations, and materials for management and retail stores.
- Prepare deal sheets and conduct competitive analysis for retail items.
- Maintain data integrity in the server master file.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
