About The Position

The Pricing Specialist will be responsible for reviewing part numbers impacted by cost changes, packaging changes, etc., to ensure competitive, profitable pricing. This role involves considering the value of available on-hand inventory along with the cost of replenishment to protect and maximize profitability and competitive position. The specialist will also review part numbers on low margin reporting to confirm prices are both profitable and competitive, investigating the root cause of low margins to determine next actions. Additionally, the role requires consulting with management on inventory that may have a value too high to be competitively priced, reviewing part numbers per competitive pricing reports, and ensuring competitive, profitable pricing prior to inventory receipt. The Pricing Specialist will act as a subject-matter expert in the pricing of designated suppliers/products, communicate with management on pricing strategies, and review international competitive position reports to make recommendations. Familiarity with the Foreign Exchange (ForEx) market and the tools/systems used for pricing is essential. The role demands an investigative and methodical approach, the ability to implement changes impacting profitability, and proficiency in data entry using various computer programs and spreadsheet/database commands. Maintaining the UniVerse system with current costs and resales is also a key responsibility. The position requires a positive attitude, strong teamwork, excellent communication skills at all levels, a strong customer service orientation with a sense of urgency, detailed and thorough work habits, multi-tasking abilities, and proactive scheduling of projects. Building strong relationships with upstream and downstream teams and maintaining confidentiality are crucial. Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.

Requirements

  • Possess strong attention to detail skills with the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to multi-task, type data for long periods of time.
  • Effective time management.
  • Able to use, read, interpret spreadsheets, printed reports and terminal screens.
  • PC experience in a Microsoft Windows environment; proficient with internet, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and other software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Review part numbers impacted by cost changes, packaging changes, etc., to ensure competitive, profitable pricing.
  • Consider the value of available on-hand inventory along with the cost of replenishment, to protect/maximize profitability and competitive position.
  • Review part numbers that appear on low margin reporting to confirm prices are both profitable and competitive along with investigating the root cause of the low margin to determine next actions.
  • Consult Pricing Analysis management on inventory that may have a value too high to be competitively priced.
  • Review part numbers, line-by-line, per competitive pricing reports.
  • Review part numbers approved to purchase via PMRs, etc., to ensure competitive, profitable pricing prior to receipt of inventory.
  • Communicate with Pricing Analysis management to ensure the correct pricing strategy is being applied to a product set.
  • Be a subject-matter expert in the pricing of designated suppliers/products.
  • Consult management as outliers are identified in a review.
  • Review large reports outlining competitive position internationally and make recommendations based on the contents of these reports.
  • Review websites in a variety of languages to find key information.
  • Develop a familiarity with the Foreign Exchange (ForEx) market.
  • Be knowledgeable of the tools/systems used to ensure anticipated results.
  • Communicate errors that occur with these systems, conduct root cause analysis and propose potential resolutions.
  • Perform data entry using various computer programs, spreadsheet or database commands and format material as required.
  • Ensure UniVerse system is maintained with current costs and resales according to vendor price files, part entry and updates.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude towards self and others.
  • Maintain a strong teamwork orientation and an ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Exhibit a strong customer service orientation with a strong sense of urgency to respond to internal customer needs.
  • Be proactive in scheduling upcoming projects along with Pricing Analysis Management.
  • Build strong relationships with teams involved in upstream and downstream processes.
