About The Position

The Pricing Specialist plays a critical role in supporting profitable, competitive pricing decisions that support Sea Land’s commercial strategy. This role partners closely with Sales, Supplier Relations, and Supply Chain to translate cost, rebate, and market data into effective pricing outcomes. The Pricing Specialist executes the pricing process by entering and maintaining pricing data in the company’s data management system accurately and in a timely manner, understands the end-to-end pricing process, and how changes to cost and price affect other aspects of the business. This role works closely with sales and supplier relations to provide information to ensure sound decisions on selling prices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, business, communications, or related discipline
  • 3-5 years of experience in pricing for a large product portfolio
  • Equivalent work experience in a similar role will be considered for the position in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Demonstrated understanding of pricing and costing models
  • Ability to work effectively with others in a fast-paced cross-functional environment
  • High degree of organizational skills and multi-tasking capability
  • Attention to detail and follow-through skills
  • Highly proficient in Excel
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Competency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Teams, PowerPoint, and ERP/CRM systems
  • High degree of technical aptitude and proven willingness to learn new technical information

Responsibilities

  • Ensures timely, accurate price maintenance to support margin discipline and efficient order processing utilizing analytics, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Reviews product costs, margins, and market data to establish pricing for new and existing business in consultation with key stakeholders.
  • Works with Sales and Supplier Relations with the BID/RFQ process by entering and supplying accurate data on pricing.
  • Collaborates with Supplier Relations, Supply Chain, and Sales to identify and resolve pricing issues and discrepancies.
  • Communicates cost, pricing, and rebate changes to internal and external customers as needed.
  • Acts as a resource for the commercial team, addressing pricing-related queries and challenges.
  • Coordinates closely with customer service to resolve pricing issues that could delay processing.
  • Coordinates closely with supply chain and supplier teams to ensure raw material cost process hands off into pricing effectively.
  • Responsible for investigating and coordinating pricing and costing questions from the commercial team.
  • Coordinates and manages the Stage Gate process for new product launches with all relevant internal teams.
  • Ensures product information in the ERP/CRM is accurate in coordination with supply chain and commercial teams.
  • Coordinates the setup, maintenance, and entry of supplier rebate programs and related pricing in the ERP system in accordance with approved agreements.
  • Serves as the primary point of coordination between Supplier Management, suppliers, and Sales to ensure rebate information is accurate, current, and communicated appropriately.
