About The Position

The Pricing Analyst I supports POOLCORP’s pricing processes and strategies by analyzing data to drive revenue growth, margin expansion, and profitability across our product portfolio. This entry-level role contributes to the development of pricing tools, conducts data-driven analyses, and partners with internal teams to ensure pricing practices align with business goals. The analyst will leverage AI-enabled pricing platforms, automation, and modern BI tools to surface insights faster, reduce manual effort, and help senior analysts and leadership translate data into actionable pricing strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Analytics, Economics, Finance, Data Science, or related field required. Master’s preferred.
  • 0–2 years of experience in pricing, analytics, or related analytical functions (internships and applied academic projects qualify).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups (XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH), complex formulas, conditional logic, data cleansing, and building repeatable models. Comfort with macros/VBA is a plus.
  • Moderate understanding of relational databases (tables, keys, joins, normalization, and basic data modeling concepts) and working knowledge of SQL for querying, joining, filtering, and aggregating data across multiple tables.
  • Exposure to BI tools such as Microsoft Power BI preferred.
  • Exposure to AI-enabled or automated pricing tools (e.g., PROS, Vendavo, Pricefx, Zilliant, or comparable platforms) and comfort using AI-assisted workflows to accelerate analysis, automate recurring reporting, and improve data quality.
  • Relevant coursework, certifications, internships, or hands-on project work qualifies.
  • Basic understanding of financial concepts such as profitability, margins, cost structures, and price elasticity.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present data and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Python, R, or VBA for data manipulation and lightweight automation.
  • Exposure to machine learning, predictive analytics, or dynamic pricing concepts as applied to commercial decisions.
  • Experience building or maintaining automated dashboards, alerts, or report pipelines.
  • Awareness of data governance, version control, and documentation best practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Foundational problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data efficiently and apply critical thinking to ambiguous problems.
  • Curiosity and a desire for growth and continuous learning in analytics, AI, and pricing optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze pricing data and market trends to evaluate profitability and margin impacts across categories, customer segments, and channels.
  • Support the creation and refinement of pricing models for products and services, leveraging AI/ML-enabled pricing platforms (e.g., PROS, Vendavo, Pricefx, Zilliant, or similar) where applicable.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reporting to track pricing performance and identify trends, automating recurring deliverables using BI tools (e.g., Microsoft Power BI) and AI-assisted workflows.
  • Assist in margin management initiatives by identifying pricing discrepancies, transactional issues, and elasticity signals surfaced by pricing analytics tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Sales, Finance, Category Management, IT) on pricing approvals, standards, and workflows.
  • Prepare presentations summarizing pricing findings, AI-generated insights, and recommendations for senior analysts and leadership.
  • Participate in the development, testing, and adoption of automation and AI tools to streamline data-driven decision-making, including dashboards, alerts, and recurring report pipelines.
  • Monitor competitive landscapes and pricing benchmarks—including dynamic pricing trends—to inform strategic decisions.
  • Contribute to the improvement of pricing controls, governance, and practices to ensure accuracy, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Document workflows, data lineage, and use cases for pricing automation and AI tools to support repeatable, auditable processes.
