About The Position

Southeast Healthcare is seeking a Prevention Specialist to provide substance use prevention, education, and support services to adolescents and young adults in a school setting. The Prevention Specialist will lead educational programs, facilitate group discussions, and offer individualized mentorship to at-promise youth. This role also involves building connections with community organizations, coordinating resources, and advocating for the needs of young people and their families. The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting young people in making positive choices, a strong understanding of risk factors impacting youth, and the ability to work collaboratively in a community setting.

Requirements

  • BA/BA strongly preferred; CDCA, Certified Prevention Specialist, or LSW required.
  • As a healthcare provider, Southeast Healthcare is a non-smoking employer.
  • Staff members are required to be vaccinated for the flu (medical and religious exemptions may be requested during the hiring process).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in youth services, social work, counseling, or related field a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead prevention and education sessions on topics such as substance use, mental health, healthy relationships, and life skills for adolescents and young adults.
  • Create and maintain a supportive environment for group discussions, where participants can share experiences, ask questions, and learn from one another.
  • Work with youth who are at risk of developing a Substance Use and/or Mental Health Disorder, by offering one-on-one mentorship and guidance.
  • Connect youth to community resources (e.g., counseling services, employment programs, housing support) and provide advocacy to ensure their needs are met.
  • Build relationships with local organizations, schools, and service providers to enhance service delivery and promote prevention efforts.
  • Participate in community events and outreach activities to raise awareness.
