About The Position

The Prevention Specialist is responsible for the organization’s compliance, accreditation, certification, performance improvement, and quality assurance initiatives. The role implements programs to prevent negative outcomes by working with communities, schools, and organizations, providing educational materials, and advocating for policies that support prevention efforts. The position is based at WellStone Huntsville Main Campus in Huntsville, Alabama, with travel of up to 80%. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a social sciences field.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience and ability to conduct groups with at-risk youth and parents.
• Must be able to complete AADAA Certification for Prevention Specialists within one year of employment.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of experience working with youth is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct community prevention group sessions for children and their parents.
• Complete accurate and timely documentation.
• Coordinate group days and times to meet the required monthly hours.
• Conduct outreach and education activities in the community.
• Attend and complete required training.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
