About The Position

Under direct supervision of the Ti-Hirasa Domestic Violence Program Coordinator, the Prevention Specialist will be responsible for planning, organization, and implementation of the Domestic Violence Prevention Program (DVPP). Also, serves as the Projector Director for DVPP grant per the funding agency.

Requirements

  • Minimum: Associate Degree in Sociology, Social Work, Health Promotion, or related field.
  • Minimum: One (1) year of experience working in the realm of domestic and sexual violence, community outreach, and Native communities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Internet Explorer, etc.
  • Proficiency in the proper use of and operation of standard office equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with law enforcement, healthcare professionals, court/legal professionals, social services, and other outside agencies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with program clientele, the general public, tribal members, Pawnee Nation employees, and other concerned parties.
  • Must possess strong administrative, public relations, and communications skills.
  • Skilled in the use of business communications (proper spelling/grammar).
  • Skilled in the use of business arithmetic (accounting, etc.).
  • Ability to organize and conduct community education meetings.
  • Ability to pass a background screening.
  • Must possess the ability to provide clients with compassionate care respective of Native American customs, traditions, and beliefs.
  • Must demonstrate a basic understanding of clients’ rights and responsibilities, including familiarity with confidentiality requirements.
  • Must be able to conduct research, analyze information, and interpret data.
  • Must possess the ability to analyze situations and adopt appropriate courses of action.
  • Must possess the ability to be persuasive and tactful in controversial situations
  • Must possess the ability to meet deadlines, adapt to changing priorities, and work well under pressure.
  • Must demonstrate strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize.
  • Must possess knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Must possess the ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Must be available to work flexible work hours, which may vary beyond the standard 8am-5pm work schedule.
  • Must be available for work-related travel.

  • Must work independently
  • Must attend training, as required by the position.
  • Must have a valid Oklahoma drivers’ license and be insurable with Pawnee Nation’s insurance carrier.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, Social Work, Health Promotion, or related field
  • Preferred: Three (3) years of experience working in the realm of domestic and sexual violence, community outreach, and Native communities.
  • Willing to substitute (2) years of experience in lieu of minimum education requirement

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate community-based prevention programs, services, activities, and training utilizing both internal and external resources.
  • Develop and manage the DVPP Budget.
  • Develop and submit program reports to the funding agency.
  • Prepare purchase orders, check requests, and other procurement activities.
  • Research contemporary practices and techniques in the field of domestic and/or sexual violence prevention and create/edit/maintain training manuals/literature for the public.
  • Identify and maintain community resources useful for program activities; and establish a community network.
  • Assists in the maintenance of accurate program files, and other necessary documents.
  • Attend training to enhance job performance.
  • Plan, organize, and lead the monthly Empowerment Support Group for one evening a month after regular work hours, 5:30-7:30 pm.
  • Provide training for law enforcement, social service agencies, healthcare professionals, and court/legal professionals.
  • Contribute to team effort and accomplish related results as required.
  • Maintains confidentiality of clients and client records.
  • Serve as a back-up Advocate when needed.
  • Collaborate and participate with other programs in the DHCS division. This may require working on an occasional Saturday.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned and within the scope of the position.
